The story
Discover the story behind the first non-alcoholic speciality beer in Belgium.
It all starts with Brugse Zot
Brouwerij De Halve Maan challenged the traditional way of working and was the first brewery in Belgium to launch a non-alcoholic speciality beer. Our brewers perfected the processes and developed a non-alcoholic speciality beer that has a full-flavoured taste. The Sportzot was born.
We start off by brewing our well-known Brugse Zot Blond. This brew is dealcoholosied in a natural way, using a unique filtration technique. All the original and rich hop aromas of the Brugse Zot are preserved during this process. That’s what makes Sportzot so unique en delicious.
Unique membrane
filtration technology
Our brewers developed a unique technique to dealcoholize Brugse Zot and turn it into a non-alcoholic version. To do this they use a reverse-osmosis membrane filtration. This enables them to extract the alcohol from the beer in a natural way, without any processes that could lead to loss of flavour.
The dealcoholisation takes place at filtration temperatures of approximately 10 to 15 °C. The composite membranes allow water and alcohol to pass through and, as such, essential ingredients that comprise the aroma, color and turbidity are retained. The final product, our Sportzot, is a high-quality and non-alcoholic speciality beer that’s full of flavour.
Enjoy responsibly
Who says a good beer has to contain alcohol? Our non-alcoholic Sportzot allows you to enjoy in a responsible way, without compromising taste. This unique speciality beer is brewed with 4 different malts and 2 aromatic hop varieties.
It’s both for sports enthusiasts and beer lovers. With its refreshing taste and complex character Sportzot is the ideal non-alcoholic alternative at a crazy festivity or after a heavy workout. Cheers!
